Dumber than you look

You are dumber than you thought… dammit!

So you think you are independent and intelligent? Surprise, none of us are like that. We are all interdependent. We are all suffering dumbness in various degrees. Continue reading “Dumber than you look” »

Rich people laugh

creative artistIt's only funny if you've got it!

I was driving in the traffic the other day when a new BMW open top sports car passed me. The man and the woman in the car were both laughing and very happy. From that moment on I knew that money does make you happy. It was living proof before my eyes.

I looked in some old cars that were passing by and not one person was even smiling, let alone laughing, more proof. I know, that whenever I have had money in my life, I have felt good about it. I never felt greedy or like a sinner, it gave me a sense of freedom.

I like to have money because it lets me play more with life. It gives me time and space to do what I love. Whoever came up with the idea that money is the root of all evil should have his license revoked and put into solitary confinement for a few years. We do not need to hear such rubbish any more.

I think that such statements came either from institutions trying to control the masses by making them poor, or poor people trying to justify their existence. Either way, having no money is equivalent to having no food, it’s just not good for you.

Money buys you health care. It buys you medicine. Money allows you to be creative and gives you time to think about life (and making money). Having money means you can afford to be generous and share your luck. Did I say ‘luck!’. Surely there’s more to it than luck?

Wealth can’t come just from hard work because I’ve worked hard for years and still don’t own a Merc. And wealth can’t come from positive thinking because for most of my life I have been sure I would win the lotto but that did not happen, not even once.

So how do you get lots of money? I don’t know, maybe it has something to do with priorities, I’ve never actually made money my priority. I have always put creative expression, my family, my career or my lifestyle as a priority but not money. Maybe this is what I should focus on, if I really want lots of money.

Anyway don’t talk to me now I’m too busy hating those people over there smiling in the Rolls Royce… and shutup, I’m not jealous!

It’s freaky being old – part1

You are old when you have more time behind you, than in front of you.

I think it happened around the time I hit 50 (a while ago now) . I noticed that young people started to act as if I didn’t exist and if for some reason they had to acknowledge me, they acted as if I was probably carrying a lot of hideous diseases that had caused my mental deficiency.

I also felt that young men were no longer threatened by my magnificent masculine presence. In fact I began to wonder, do I still have any magnificent masculine presence?

I suppose all of the young bucks are only worried about potential threats to their egos and their girlfriends and there is nothing threatening about wrinkled old men with stupid outdated ideas and clothing.

There are a few obvious signs that you have reached old age:
  1. Foolishly, you tell young people that the only good music was the stuff you listened to as a youth.
  2. You start saying things like: ‘You are only as old as you feel’. That’s stupid, what makes you think that a person your age feels any differently than you do?
  3. Every time you see a young mother, you say: ‘She looks too young to have a baby’. And  the women say: ‘You’re too old to be looking at young mothers!’
  4. You think you look young for your age but your friends look their age.
  5. Your children have reached middle age and you still call them kids!
  6. People in power are younger than your children.
  7. You just don’t get it. Nothing makes sense to you: computer games, ipods, loud music, crazy hair styles. Your world has turned into a foreign land and you can’t speak the local language.

To be continued… if I live long enough…

I get around, round, round, rounder

We've moved again!

In our life long quest for Economic Utopia we have closed our gallery in Eumundi. Unfortunately it did not work out for us. It is a beautiful town and the people are delightful but it wasn't for us.

Also there were some complications with house selling and buying (I can hear lots of you saying – I know exactly what you mean!) So we are back on the Gold Coast and my studio is now my gallery. Phone Lina 0404074126 if you would like to come around to buy some art.

We get around. We have had many house moves and many changes in our life. Maybe that gives me the creative outlook that I have. I am not afraid of change and adapt to the new situation very quickly. In the long run it doesn't really matter because we all end up in the same situation – dead! That's the good news!

What matters is how you fill in the gap between here and dead!

Adopt creative ways to solve your problems.Unleash your creative heart and step out. Take the risk and do it! Sometimes you lose, sometimes you win.

However, if you sit in front of the TV and dream, you will slowly sink into half-life where your senses are dulled and your mind becomes rigid. Oh what fun!

Your body is the same. if you get out there and be active, sometimes you will fly and sometimes you will fall, but if you don't do anything you will slip into the dullness and heaviness of a prison of your own making.

Become creative before you become dead, one way or another!

This blog is just too much fun, I'll quit now and go settle down in front of the TV and dream of what I could be doing.
